We have been riding our bikes every chance we get, we will be riding Squaw Pass this Sat as part of our training. Tony and I have joined the Champions for Children Cycling team. We have done various bicycle events over the years, but this one is different, their cause has really touched our hearts. The Champions for Children Cycling team was established to raise money for the Rocky Mountain Childrens Law Center.
The Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center was established in 1981 to address the lack of quality legal representation for abused and neglected children in Colorado. When we saw the inspiring success stories that have changed the lives of so many children that otherwise would have dropped through the cracks of foster care, we had to take on the challenge. Two of our son in-laws, one a police man and the other a fire fighter have been directly involved in calls for children who may have been saved by an organization like the Childrens Law Center. Our greatest passion is our family and it breaks my heart to see so many children suffering needlessly, we can help make a difference in their lives.
To help raise money we will be doing the Triple By Pass on July 10th. This is a 120 mile ride from Evergreen to Avon over Squaw (11,140 ft.), Loveland (11,990 ft.), and Vail (10,560 ft.) passes, with over 10,000 ft. gain in elevation all in one day. The Triple Bypass is one of the toughest rides many of us will ever train for and endure, it's an accomplishment to be proud of. But when you think of how many children are so helpless and in need of an advocate in their corner, the challenge of this ride pales in comparison.
